International Volunteer Day

December 5th is the global observation of International Volunteer Day.

According to the UN, who mandated this day, it is “a unique chance for volunteers and organizations to celebrate their efforts, to share their values, and to promote their work”.

The United Nations coordinates a volunteers program that mobilizes thousands of volunteers worldwide. Even if you aren’t physically able to volunteer with the United Nations, they also have an online volunteering service!

In our office, we are currently in the midst of a Stockings for Soldiers drive, where we are coming together to support our troops overseas. We are bringing in candies, stockings, and non-perishable food to send to soldiers from our area in New England. It can mean a lot to have access to special treats from home that aren’t available anywhere else, like Coffeemilk syrup or Boston baked beans.

We also help support the US Fund for UNICEF through vehicle donations every day.

UNICEF is the United Nation’s Children’s Fund, a nonprofit that supports children worldwide.  This organization is committed to protecting the most vulnerable children around the globe.

They are active in over 190 countries and territories to protect children who are often unable to protect themselves. They focus on critical, lifesaving initiatives including vaccination and distribution of medicine, emergency relief, providing soap and clean water, and fighting child trafficking.

UNICEF has helped eliminate polio completely in 122 countries since 1988. It is difficult to quantify the reduction in human suffering through their valiant efforts. It is easy to quantify their excellent use of funds, though: 88.4% of every dollar donated goes directly to aid the children who need it.

We make it easy, all you need to do is visit our website or call at 1-855-487-3863. A U.S. Fund for UNICEF car donation can change a child’s life.

US Fund for UNICEF

UNICEF is the acronym for the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund, created by the UN after World War II. Their first mission was to directly remedy the lack of security, food, and healthcare faced by children in war-torn countries.

Today, UNICEF is active in over 190 countries and territories worldwide, caring for children and youths who are in need.

Conflict tends to most hurt the already vulnerable, especially children. UNICEF works in areas of crisis to fight trafficking and military conscription. We are in the midst of an unprecedented refugee crisis, and almost 50 million children have been displaced.  UNICEF aided more than 145,000 displaced children in Syria in the first half of 2012. The impact of this organization worldwide is monumental.

UNICEF also focuses on everyday struggles, including a lack of access to clean water, vaccines, and proper nutrition. Their humanitarian programs have helped reduce the number of child deaths by over 50% since 1990 — and they are not done.

2003 Kawasaki Jetskii Donated to UNICEF

Car Donation Wizard accepts more vehicles than you might think! Perhaps you’ve already read about boat, motorcycle, and commercial donations, but did you know we can even accept donated Jetskis? This aquatic donation benefited the US Fund for UNICEF. Not only is it fun, but it helped make the world a better place! With a UNICEF car donation, you can too!

The Jetski: 2003 Kawasaki STX-12F

Although “Jetski” is often used as a blanket term for Personal Water Crafts(PWC), it is actually the name for Kawasaki’s iconic model.

Kawasaki manufactured their first standup PWC back in 1973,  and have been supreme since.

This particular model can reach speeds of over 55 mph on the water, which is surely quite exciting (don’t forget a life jacket)! The STX-12F also has three out of three stars on the CARB emission rating, which makes it both fun and responsible.

The hull is crafted in a single piece which makes it more durable and a smoother ride. It also features a water-jacketed exhaust system, which keeps the engine quieter than you might expect.

Not only is this well built, it brought joy to more than just its original owner as a generous donation to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! This time of year is good for more than just candy and pumpkin carving, it’s also a major fundraiser for UNICEF! You might be familiar with the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign, but do you know about making a UNICEF car donation? Find out this unexpected way you can support this incredible charity!

The Trick-or-Treat UNICEF started in 1950 when a small group of thoughtful children went trick or treating looking not for candy, but coins for children in need overseas. The first year, they raised a total of $17. Since that first Halloween, participants have raised almost $177 million dollars for children worldwide.

If you see any pint-size trick or treaters out tonight with orange boxes, know that they are doing their part to make a global difference!

A donation of 50 cents can provide a packet of therapeutic food for a malnourished child. Donating $1 can provide a polio vaccine. A donation of $2 can provide 10 bars of soap that help keep kids clean and healthy. It doesn’t take much to make a difference, and donations of all sizes add up to make a life-saving difference.

Learn more about this program through the following video:

If you’re inspired by the fantastic work of UNICEF, consider donating your vehicle to further the cause. Your UNICEF car donation will be simple and quick and can be started over the phone by calling  1-855-487-3863 or by visiting our website.

Your car donation will be towed away promptly, and you’ll be eligible for a tax deduction. Even better, UNICEF will receive between 75-80% of every gross dollar earned from your vehicle’s auction. All treat, no trick!
