Take a look at this month’s vehicle donation, a 2006 Lexus SC-V8 Convertible SC430, named Roxy. This Lexus was generously donated to the American Cancer Society through the Cars for a Cure Vehicle Donation Program. Donating your car to ACS rather than just selling it will help save lives that might otherwise be lost to the disease. Your donation will help fund lifesaving cancer research, education, advocacy, and free patient service programs.
The donor shares how she hopes Roxy, a source of comfort for her, can be used to benefit people in her community.
“I owned a car just like this and sold it when I moved to FL to help my father take care of my mom. She was in the final stages of breast cancer. She loved my car and ended up buying the same one. She probably should not have been driving with all the treatment she was enduring, and she got in a terrible accident, totaled the car but thankfully no one was hurt. My dad bought her this car brand new in 2005. At that time, my father was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. He was also undergoing treatment. We hung a charm from the Multiple Myeloma Foundation from her rear view mirror hoping for the best. She continued to deteriorate but he couldn’t have her look in her purse and not see car keys. Instead, we moved her car to my house, and she never knew it was gone. She passed shortly after. My Dad insisted that I keep the car. He passed away 4 years later.
The car has been one of my sources of comfort, especially when I go to the cemetery to visit them and the car is parked in view! I have now had the car for 17 years. The only reason I can conceive of parting with her is donating her to the American Cancer Society. Please make Roxy work for the cause!”
