Happy 4th of July!

4th of july 2018

The Fourth of July came in to existence in 1776, with the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. The thirteen colonies were declared the United States of America, and thus the birth of our nation. The legal separation of the thirteen Colonies from Great Britain actually occurred on July 2nd, but due to revisions of documents it was delayed two days and therefore we celebrate on the fourth.

The Fourth of July has always been a favorite holiday of mine. It’s the perfect time of year to enjoy festivities outdoors with friends and family. Fortunately for us, Rhode Island has a LOT to offer during tourist season….especially being on the island! The 4th falls on a Wednesday this year, which will make most of the festivities available a few days earlier on the previous weekend.

The calendar below shows the dates and times of fireworks displays across the state.

Happy National Doughnut Day!

National doughnut day

The word ‘doughnut’ can mean different things depending on its context. Most people think of the word and sweet fried dough usually in the shape of a ring or ball comes to mind. Other people might think cars and shifting into first gear holding the gas down and turning all the way either to the right or left causing the vehicle to spin in circles, might be your kind of donut… However, today, June 1st marks National Doughnut Day and it is about food not cars.

National Donut day began during World War I when the Salvation Army sent over 250+ female volunteers to France to provide servicemen fresh coffee, tea, pastries, pies, breads, and of course Doughnuts. They became known as “Doughnut Girls.” The tradition carried on into World War II, the volunteers who helped serve the servicemen were referred to “Doughnut Dollies”. The United States Marine Corps’ birthday was also once referred to as National Doughnut Day. Even though it was just the military branch’s birthday, it is said the American prisoners of war at Son Tay Prison Camp convinced the Vietnamese guards it was a holiday in hopes to trick them to give out doughnuts in honor of the occasion.

Donate your car to charity today!

Here at Advanced Remarketing Services we like both kinds of doughnuts. Most of our
employees would prefer actual doughnuts from a local doughnut shop. But, since
we are a vehicle donation processing center we have many employees who enjoy
motorsports like autocross, rally, drifting, racing, and of course doing burnouts and doughnuts! If you have recently done a little too many donuts in your car and it may be ready for donation we are the company you should think of. Or, if you just love eating doughnuts and their history and want to donate your car to a charity like the Salvation Army, we are the people for you!  We work with the best non-profits around and are here ready to take your vehicle donation! Check out Car Donation Wizard or call us at (877) 957-2277, and tell us about your doughnut adventures, whichever type they may be!

Generous Vehicle Donation to James L. Maher Center

Maher Center Vehicle Donation

We recently had the great pleasure to personally present funds from a vehicle donation, to a charity that is near and dear to the family at ARS, The James L. Maher Center.  This is an organization that is based right here in Middletown, RI. Its focus is to support individuals with developmental disabilities by helping them to increase their independence, self-esteem, productivity, integration and participation in their communities.  It is very special to us for a number of reasons. We have been so fortunate to work with 2 of the men from this organization. They work with us 3 days a week and are wonderful to work with.

We also take part in one of their services, Blossoms, where fresh flowers are delivered by one of their participants to our staff weekly.  It brightens our office and our days to see beautiful flowers on our desks. The proceeds for this program go right back into helping to support the Maher Center’s activities.

A member of our local community recently donated her vehicle to the Maher Center, a 2006 Lexus.  This vehicle sold at a nearby auction and we were very happy with the results of the sale that we were able to present to the Maher Center.  We presented the proceeds check to the CEO of the James L. Maher Center, Rose Morton, along with Deb Gardener (Director of Program Operations), Willow Hoaglund, and Tammy Mojkowski.  Two of their program participants and their direct support provider Mike were also on hand when the proceeds were presented. The funds will be used to help support the operation of their group homes, to help maintain their transportation fleet, and provide training and support throughout their various vocational, educational and therapeutic services.

We are very thankful for this generous donation to a wonderful organization, and for all of the donations we receive.  If you are interested in more information about the James L. Maher Center or in ways you can support them, please visit their website at www.mahercenter.org.  If you are interested in donating your vehicle, or reading about some of our other donations, please visit www.cardonationwizard.com or contact one of our car donation representatives today at (877) 957-2277.

Memorial Day Feature: Car Donations for Veterans

Memorial Day Feature Car Donations for Veterans

Car Donations for Veterans is a meaningful way to support military and veteran related charities with a tax deduction eligible contribution.

This Memorial Day we are doing a special feature on car donations for veterans.  This national holiday is a time where we all take a chance to honor the active and retired military members who serve our country.  When donating a car there are many different car donation programs to choose from but we would like to highlight our veteran and military related charities that you can donate a car to.

Our featured organizations are Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Vets Vehicles and Fisher House Foundation.  Donating a car to one of these charities is a great way to support our veterans with a significant and meaningful contribution.  You may not realize the value your car still has and a charitable tax deduction eligible car donation is an easy and free way to get rid of your old vehicle.

Second Life of Cars

The life of cars after they leave the road, how auto recycling gives them a second chance.

For many of us, cars are trustworthy and reliable modes of transportation, bringing us smoothly from destination to destination. But what happens when that car breaks down?

It can be hard to say goodbye to a beloved car that has been with you through red lights and road trips, but remembering the benefit to charities and the environment can make saying goodbye a little easier. With advances in auto recycling, you may even see your car again, in its second life.

Car Donation Wizard can help you benefit amazing charitable organizations, from Habitat to Humanity, to American Cancer Society, to Feed the Children. But did you know that donating a vehicle can make the world and the environment a better place?

auto recycling

How You Can Help

Globally, at least 50,000,000 vehicles reach the end of their life every year, and at least 95% of those cars are recycled.

Some of the recyclable components include:

  • Metals
  • Plastics
  • Glass
  • Rubber
  • Tires
  • Batteries
  • Fluids
  • Carpets

Metal is a major component of vehicles that can be recycled into everyday consumer products, from soda cans, to new appliances, to new cars. By recycling your old car, you can help save energy, save water, and help amazing charities with an eco-friendly donation!

The tires on your old car can be used to pave roads, make shoes, and even create sustainable train tracks! Rubber train tracks last longer than the traditional wood material, which saves trees and helps us all breathe better air.

The junk car taking up space in your garage or driveway can help your favorite charity and the environment. Sometimes, your beloved vehicle can be even more useful in its second life.

To make a sustainable, charitable car donation, give us a call at 877-999-8322.
