The ALS Association is a national nonprofit that utilizes global research and advocacy in order to find a treatment and cure for ALS. ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a progressive nervous system disease that causes loss of muscle control. The organization also provides assistance to those affected by the disease.
My mother was diagnosed with ALS in Aug 2009. Shortly thereafter, no longer able to drive, she gave the car to me for the grandkids to drive. Our 3 children shared the car, driving to high school, work and college. Mom passed away in March 2014 and those 3 grandchildren no longer use the car but for sentimental reasons have been reluctant to let it go until now; it’s time to let that last physical connection to her go. The memories will last forever.
