Once your car is towed away, it’s brought to a recycling facility that removes hazardous materials such as fluids and rubber. The vehicle is then crushed and brought to a scrap yard where it’s shredded and separated into usable and non-usable materials. The reusable metals are brought to steel recycling facilities and separated. The steel is processed in blast furnaces or electric arc furnaces, making new steel products. Each year, the car recycling industry in the U.S. and Canada provide enough steel to produce 13 million new vehicles.

Donors who itemize their taxes may deduct the fair market value of any donated car up to $499. If your vehicle sells for more than $500, you may deduct the full selling price.
How Do I Start?
Car Donation Wizard accepts all car donations, trucks, motorcycles, boats, snowmobiles, trailers, and RV’s.
To get started, choose from our list of charity partners to donate your vehicle. We work with major nonprofits, such as American Cancer Society on its Cars for a Cure program, Habitat for Humanity’s Cars for Homes program, and the Car Talk Vehicle Donation Program.
Don’t see your organization listed? Use our Cars for Charity Vehicle Donation Program to donate your car to the nonprofit of your choice.
Once you answer a few questions about your vehicle, we’ll contact you within 24-48 hours to schedule a pickup time of your convenience. You’ll receive state specific title instructions to help you transfer your title to Advanced Remarketing Services, our authorized agent for all charities.
Once your title is received and your vehicle is picked up, we’ll sell it and your organization will receive 75-80% of the proceeds! Not only will you receive a tax break, but you’ll be making a positive impact on your nonprofit.
