How to Donate Your Car to American Cancer Society

Step 1:  Provide Vehicle Information

Complete the donation form online or by calling us at 888-227-5500. We’ll ask you some questions about your vehicle, including the VIN, year, make, model, mileage, and condition.

Step 2:  Schedule Free Car Pick Up

Tell us about yourself and where your car will be picked up. You’ll be contacted by a local towing agent within 2-3 business days to schedule a pick up time that works best for you.

Step 3:  Get Tax Receipt

Once you submit your American Cancer Society car donation, you’ll receive a confirmation email with access to your Donor Console. Within the Donor Console, you’ll be able to track the progress of your car donation, upload documents, and get tax and title information. After your car is sold, you’ll be emailed a tax receipt.

What types of vehicles are accepted?

American Cancer Society accepts almost all running and non-functioning cars and trucks. Other vehicles such as vans, motorcycles, snowmobiles, boats, RVs, trailers, planes, and heavy machinery are accepted on a case-by-case basis. What documents do I need to complete my car donation to American Cancer Society?

You’ll need a clear title in order to complete your car donation. If there is a lien listed on the title, you’ll also need to provide a lien release document. If you have any questions, call us at 888-227-5500. 

How do I transfer my title?

You’ll need to sign your title over to our authorized agent, Advanced Remarketing Services. You will print and sign your name as the seller. Click here to find state-specific title transfer instructions or call 888-277-5500 and a customer service representative can walk you through the process.

How much money will American Cancer Society receive from my car donation?

Is my donation tax deductible?

Yes! Within 30 days of the sale of your car, you’ll be emailed a tax receipt. If your car sells for over $500, you may deduct the full selling price of the car when itemizing taxes. If your car sells for less than $500, you can deduct $499 or your car’s fair market value, whichever is less. Please consult with your tax advisor on the best way to claim your American Cancer Society car donation tax deduction.
