In 1985, the United Nations declared the first Monday of October as World Habitat Day. It is annually celebrated to reflect on the basic human right of all to adequate shelter. It also serves as a reminder to the world of the responsibility we have for the future of the human habitat.
This year’s theme is Housing for All: A Better Urban Future. October 2020 is a month full of meetings, discussions, and events focused on urban issues and sustainable development. Individuals, organizations, cities, communities, and governments at all levels are asked to engage in virtual activities which highlight the challenges and solutions relating to cities, towns, and communities.
