Scott’s 1984 Mazda Pickup Donated to American Cancer Society

Scott’s 1984 Mazda Pickup Donated to American Cancer Society

The truck was not in running condition and is likely headed for the scrap pile. However, in its day, it was a force to be reckoned with. The Mighty Mazda indeed. I was the proud owner for almost 40 years and well over 300,000 miles. Together, we explored, hiked, fished, and had adventures all over Colorado, Wyoming, and the Rocky Mountain West.

Joyce’s 2005 Toyota Sienna Donated to UNICEF USA

As a child growing up in Newark, New Jersey, our elementary school always encouraged us to give to UNICEF. There are so many people in need around the world. I want my donation to help needy children in conflict areas of this world.

Martin’s 1994 Ford E350 Van Donated to American Cancer Society

In 2006 I was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer. It’s very deadly as there was no pain just indigestion. I asked my two older brothers if they had indigestion and they said as you get close to 50 that’s what happens. Well it turned out to be stomach cancer and they got me in for surgery, chemo, and radiation. They removed most of my stomach, my spleen, part of my liver and pancreas as well as about 15 lymph nodes. It’s been 19 great years and still going strong! I hope they use any money they get back to use it for research. Thanks!

Ashley’s 2005 Jeep Liberty Donated to North Shore Animal League America

Ashley’s 2005 Jeep Liberty Donated to North Shore Animal League America

This Jeep was actually my very first car, a gift from my father when my parents moved out to Long Island. Since I live in Brooklyn, they wanted me to have an easy way to visit, and this Jeep made that possible. I named her Mera after the Aquaman character because of her gorgeous Teal color, so unique! Over the past seven years, it’s carried me on so many small but meaningful journeys?frequent trips upstate to our family’s cabin in Monticello, visits to see relatives in New Jersey and Connecticut, and countless rides around the neighborhood.

Cosette’s 2002 Ford Escape Donated to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles

Cosette’s 2002 Ford Escape Donated to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles

My 2002 Ford Escape was the first big thing I ever bought for myself – with a loan from my Dad, then I paid him back $700 monthly for over 18 months, it ate up nearly my whole paycheck as a new college grad. But that car meant freedom. It took me up and down California: back to UC Davis, my alma mater, on snowboarding trips to Big Bear, beach days, hiking adventures, and spontaneous drives to Vegas with my girls.

Shirley’s 2001 BMW Z3 Donated to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network

Shirley’s 2001 BMW Z3 Donated to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network

My husband, Merv Hanson, was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer on 6/1/2011. He had just turned 60 in April. He was never a smoker, hardly ever drank alcohol and didn’t use drugs. He was only a few pounds over his ideal weight and had been healthy
his entire life. The diagnosis hit us like a ton of bricks. This was especially hard since I had lost my mother to PC when I was 14, my aunt when I was in my mid 20’s, and the best man (my husband’s cousin) at our wedding a few years later. My husband
lost his battle on 12/21/13. Recently my nephew was diagnosed with this awful disease.

This has been my car since college. As our family has grown from 0 to 3 kids it is time for a bigger vehicle. The family chocolate lab has been sitting on the children during family car rides and it’s getting a little tight :).

Robert’s 1998 Land Rover Range Rover Donated to Special Olympics

I have a special place in my heart for the Special Olympics.
I worked as a volunteer during the early stages of the program. I was an administrator with the Los Angeles Unified School DistriSchool District
and we participated at the time as an early implementer. It was the first time our students got to compete in athletic events at their
School. I remember the look on their faces as they competed with as much vigor as the rest of the students.
