Pancreatic Cancer Action Network Car Donation Review
“I know that my late husband would have approved the decision to donate the car to PANCAN, as they did a lot for us while he was in his battle.”
My husband, Merv Hanson, was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer on 6/1/2011. He had just turned 60 in April. He was never a smoker, hardly ever drank alcohol and didn’t use drugs. He was only a few pounds over his ideal weight and had been healthy his entire life. The diagnosis hit us like a ton of bricks. This was especially hard since I had lost my mother to PC when I was 14, my aunt when I was in my mid 20’s, and the best man (my husband’s cousin) at our wedding a few years later. My husband lost his battle on 12/21/13. Recently my nephew was diagnosed with this awful disease.
As you can see, Pancreatic Cancer has hit our family hard, which is why this cause is so dear to my heart. I know that my late husband would have approved the decision to donate the car to PANCAN, as they did a lot for us while he was in his battle.
Thank You, Shirley!

This was my first ever car that I got while in college. I planned to buy a cheap, used car with my savings but my mom surprised me by chipping in a bunch to help me get a new car. I named her Eustace and she carried me the 6+ hours to and from college for every vacation. She witnessed first love, graduation, and moved to the big city with me. She was tough, facing blazing summers, snow plows burying her for days, and alternate side parking. She drove my fiancee and I to our first house and then our wedding. She came and went to the NICU dozens of times until our beautiful baby was ready to come home months later. I was so nervous driving with our baby in the back seat for the first time, but Eustace was as steady and reliable as ever. She’s retired from our family now, but can hopefully still do some good for others.
