1986 Pontiac Firebird Donated to ASPCA

ASPCA vehicle donation

1986 Pontiac Firebird

We handle thousands of vehicle donations to charity every year, but this particular car truly stands out. This sweet cruiser fits the definition of a “pony car,” named after Mustang. Pony cars are smaller size muscle cars that still pack quite the punch.

This car has a 250 horsepower rating. Keep that in mind for trivia night, 1 Firebird = 250 horses! This iconic sportscar really purrs, or maybe chirps, on the highway and even on the silver screen.

The Pontiac Firebird gained fame as David Hasselhoff’s car in the TV series Knight Rider, and this specific car was made the final year of that program. Hasselhoff’s high tech Firebird fought for justice, which isn’t too different from our donor helping ASPCA!

Donate a Car to ASPCA

This car was donated to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). ASPCA, founded in 1866, was the first humane society in North America.

They have three main focuses: Animal Rescue, Animal Placement, and Animal Protection. That means that ASPCA works hard to rescue animals from abuse, place them in loving homes, and advocate for humane laws.

If you donate your car to ASPCA, you can help them continue their incredible legacy of over 47,000 animals rescued or assisted.

If you’re wondering how to donate my car, visit our website or give us a call us at 855-652-7722. It’s easier than you’d expect to donate your car — and you’ll be eligible for a tax deduction!

All you need to do is reach out to one of our friendly representatives or check us out online, and you can have your car picked up quickly, and for a great cause! Car Donation Wizard returns between 75-80% of the gross selling price of every vehicle to ASPCA. It doesn’t get much better than that! Don’t worry though, we won’t let unlicensed dogs behind the wheel!

The Car: 1972 Buick LeSabre Convertable

This shiny red convertible is part of a family that first hit the road in 1959. Buick is a famously reliable make of cars, and this particular cherry is a lot flashier than the average model.

Not only is this car a dazzling shade of red, it is spacious for a convertible! This model has a full-sized back seat, so up to five people can ride together in style. The back seat sure looks cozy…

The first Buick Lesabre revved its engine in 1959, and the last was manufactured in 2005. This particular Lesabre featured a cutting-edge seatbelt reminder! There is something timeless about the boxy frame, which was once the best selling car in America.

This particular model served its driver well for decades before starting a new life as a vehicle donation to charity.

The Charity: Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity has a simple vision: a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

They help build new homes and empower future homeowners. Their projects depend on the sweat equity of homebuyers and volunteers. Habitat operates domestically, as well as in Latin and Central America, Asia, Africa, and Europe. Also, they operate globally, to help communities recover from disasters.

Habitat for Humanity doesn’t just offer handouts, they give folks the tools to build a better life. A donation to Habitat does more than help an individual or a family — it helps a community.

If you can’t donate sweat equity, or building materials to your local restore, you can always donate your car. Donating your car through Cars for Homes is a great and easy way to benefit your local affiliate.

Car Donation Wizard returns between 75-80% of the gross proceeds to Habitat, which is an effective way to support your favorite charity. Your car will be sold locally, and you will be eligible for a tax deduction!

Even if you don’t have a vintage convertible, you can still help Habitat with your charity car donation. Visit our website or give us a call at 877-277-4344 to get started!

1998 Isuzu Amigo to Francis House

What’s in a name? The Isuzu Amigo is a seriously funky vehicle with an interesting history. This particular car is especially friendly, as it was donated to Francis House. Keep reading to learn about this neat car and the amazing charity its former owner supports.

The Isuzu Amigo was first produced under the name “MU Wizard.” Actually, the acronym MU had nothing to do with mechanics. It stands for “Mysterious Utility.” In Japan, Isuzu sold this car as the “Honda Jazz.”  They sold it in the US as the Amigo.

This well-named SUV was produced from 1989-1998 in Lafayette, Indiana. As you can see above, this vehicle is far from compact. Japanese owners actually had to pay an additional tax because of its width! This car is bold and brash, like an amigo that always cracks jokes.

The much-loved car was donated through Car Donation Wizard to an incredible charity.

Francis House

Francis House is a charity active in Syracuse, NY. The mission of Francis House is to provide home and support to people with terminal illnesses. The residents have six months or less to live. Francis House has two homes in Syracuse and can care for up to eight people in each house.

They don’t just provide a place to live for those with terminal illnesses. They treat each resident with respect, dignity, and compassion. There is 24-hour medical supervision, and frequent volunteer hours as well as visiting hours for family and friends.

Each resident receives individualized care, including home-cooked meals, pet and music therapy, birthday and holiday celebrations, and private bedrooms.

In total, the cost per resident to Francis House is approximately $7,000 per month, and fundraising is essential for residents who cannot assist with those costs.

One Laptop Per Child

As their name suggests, they plan to achieve that goal by providing children, from Afghanistan to Miami to Uruguay with their own rugged, durable, low-energy laptop.

The experts at One Laptop Per Child designed these computers to be versatile and tough. The device is roughly the size of a textbook, and lighter than a lunchbox. This portability is just one of several amazing attributes.

Some of the features include:

  • a color mode and a black-and-white mode that is as easy to read in sunlight as a newspaper
  • wireless broadband that connects each laptop in a local network, even without a wifi router
  • playful interface, including a touchscreen, that keeps children eager to learn while enabling exploration and expression
  • durable construction with thick plastic walls and a rechargeable battery, with an estimated lifetime of four years, compared to an average life of three years for typical laptops

One Laptop Per Child offers cutting-edge technology that is highly specified towards young users in any environmental setting. They have given over 2.5 million computers directly in the hands of the children who need them most, in over 60 countries around the world.

Do you want to help give young children like Zimi the best education possible?

One Laptop Per Child uses the technology of today to craft a bright future for tomorrow.

Happy National Doughnut Day!

National doughnut day

The word ‘doughnut’ can mean different things depending on its context. Most people think of the word and sweet fried dough usually in the shape of a ring or ball comes to mind. Other people might think cars and shifting into first gear holding the gas down and turning all the way either to the right or left causing the vehicle to spin in circles, might be your kind of donut… However, today, June 1st marks National Doughnut Day and it is about food not cars.

National Donut day began during World War I when the Salvation Army sent over 250+ female volunteers to France to provide servicemen fresh coffee, tea, pastries, pies, breads, and of course Doughnuts. They became known as “Doughnut Girls.” The tradition carried on into World War II, the volunteers who helped serve the servicemen were referred to “Doughnut Dollies”. The United States Marine Corps’ birthday was also once referred to as National Doughnut Day. Even though it was just the military branch’s birthday, it is said the American prisoners of war at Son Tay Prison Camp convinced the Vietnamese guards it was a holiday in hopes to trick them to give out doughnuts in honor of the occasion.
