1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL for U.S. Fund for UNICEF

One of our amazing donors recently donated a 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL with 174,071 miles on it. The vehicle was was donated to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF.

The iconic Mercedes-Benz 560SL is known for its simplicity and style. Weighing in at 3,700 lbs, the Mercedes-Benz 560SL came with a 5.6 liter V-8 engine with 227 horsepower and 279 ft/lb torque. The two-door roadster sat two and came with a detachable roof for those inclined to catch the breeze and the sunshine. The Mercedes-Benz 560SL was the replacement for the W113 SL-Class in 1971 before it was eventually replaced itself in 1989 by the R129 SL Class. There were a total of 237,287 Mercedes-Benz 560SL’s in production between 1971 and 1989.  For this particular model there were only 49,347 vehicles produced.  The original price of the 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL was $48,200. The Mercedes-Benz 560SL is part of the R107 chassis and it was only sold in the USA, Canada, Australia and Japan.

The 560SL was an iconic car and an important part of the Mercedes-Benz legacy.  We were excited to receive this generous donation to U.S. Fund for UNICEF.

Our Time at The Honda Fest 2016 Car Show.

Honda Fest was on June 12th, 2016 and I was lucky enough to be able to go with Herb Chambers Honda of Seekonk. This is a family friendly event (this includes dogs). While there, I was able to hang out with some really cool people and dogs too, including: Honda Laura, Honda Pro Jason, and we can’t forget Honda The Frenchie.

Honda Laura is known for her vehicle reviews and comparison videos on YouTube.

Honda Pro Jason is known for his car reviews and car education videos on YouTube.

HondaTheFrenchie is known for being really cute on Instagram, I mean, who could resist that face? (see above)

There were so many amazing cars at this event. There was racing, food, cars, family/friends, and music. Is there really any better way to spend a beautiful Sunday?! There were older cars, newer cars and everything in between. Two of the older cars that really stood out to me were the Honda Acty truck and the older Honda Civic. There were also some cars that were completely stock and then some that were far from it. I highly suggest going to a Honda Fest at least once, even if you aren’t a huge Honda fan, you will still enjoy the whole scene. The people are all so friendly.

Have you ever gone to a car show? What is your favorite one?

Also, I just want to mention that we wanted to share this fun post with you all because we like to switch it up on occassion. Is this something that you enjoy seeing? Should we do more of these in the future? We typically write about Car Donations or Vehicle donations, so I figured it would be nice to change up our usual posts.

2003 Harley VROD for U.S. Fund for UNICEF.

A 2003 Harley VROD was donated to UNICEF by very generous donors from Florida. The VRSCA VROD was in production between 2002 and 2006. The 2003 VROD models were included in the 100th anniversary editions. It has 115 hp @ 8250 RPM Max Torque, five speed transmission 1130 cc Porsche designed liquid cooled v-twin engine. You can tell that this Harley VROD is a part of the 100th anniversary edition by looking at the badge (logo) on the side of it. It says 100. These VROD’s came in a two toned silver and black color.

Harley VROD

The donor had received the Harley as a wedding and birthday present from his wife back in February of 2003. The donors had been living abroad for some time and the Harley was in a storage facility. They knew it was time to do something with it. At first, they thought about selling it, and normally that is the first thing anyone would think about. But they didn’t think they would get nearly what it was worth to them for it. So, they chose to donate it. The donor told me that giving it away and having it serve some charitable purpose seemed like the next best thing. He continued onto saying,

I wanted to make a large donation, so a 100th anniversary Harley, and the value I hoped t would generate seemed super appropriate.

How very generous of them to think of UNICEF. The VROD they donated is absolutely stunning! The donors had continued onto saying,

I believe in the power of UNICEF and know that a relatively large percentage of what is donated actually goes to the people it is trying to help. For those reasons, It was a simple choice.
