humane society of boulder valley

The Humane Society of Boulder Valley is an open-admission, community supported facility. They prove shelter, medical care, and behavioral support for over 7,000 animals annually. In 2017 alone, they helped 5,088 animals find adoptive homes! They fight animal cruelty and neglect every day and make a difference in thousands of lives.

Their impressive building boasts space to care for several hundred animals at once and more! There is also a public veterinary clinic, a retail store, a Training and Behavior Center, and a thrift store. The Humane Society of Boulder County supports pet owners of all income levels, and in 2017 subsidized 1,165 appointments at their veterinary clinic. It’s no wonder they were acclaimed as the Best Non-Profit in 2017 by Boulder Weekly magazine!

How You Can Help

Last year, 951 volunteers gave their time and energy to the HSBV (Humane Society of Boulder Valley). The HSBV is 100% donor funded and does not rely on any national humane groups or governmental agencies for support. We understand that not everyone has the time to volunteer or the funds to make a monetary donation, but there’s another way you can help – donating a vehicle!

Your donation will go a long way, especially because Car Donation Wizard makes sure of it. At least 75-80% of every gross dollar goes directly to your charity with our car donation program, the highest of any out there.

It’s quick and easy to make a vehicle donation, and a great way to support your favorite charity. All you need to do is provide basic information about the car you’d like to donate, either on our online form or over the phone at (888) 755-5435.

1978 Land Rover donated to KCUR

This week’s story highlights a vintage donation manufactured in England and donated to support KCUR in Kansas City, Missouri. It’s easy to donate a car to KCUR or to your favorite public radio station. Keep reading to learn about this unique vintage vehicle, and how you can support the stations you love.

1978 Land Rover Series III

Land Rover is synonymous worldwide with offroading, and this particular car sure looks like it could drive up a mountain or through a desert.

The Land Rover was initially designed as a working vehicle, a sort of tractor/car hybrid that would be as useful on the farm as on the road. Though it doesn’t look aerodynamic, it sure looks sturdy and capable of all sorts of travel.

Two brothers drove a Series III in the first east-west crossing of Australia by car. It’s hard to imagine a better car to travel the Australian outback. Adventurous drivers can even outfit the Series III with up to three gas tanks to avoid pesky fuel stops.

Land Rovers can do exactly what the name suggests, traversing terrain that a lesser car couldn’t manage.

Perhaps the most unexpected capability of this car? Supporting KCUR as a donated vehicle!

How to Donate a Car to KCUR

KCUR is the flagship NPR station for the Kansas City metropolitan area. Their broadcasts reach a 90-mile radius in Missouri and Kansas and you can tune in 24/7.

They broadcast national programs that you can hear on NPR stations nationwide, but that’s not all. KCUR creates and broadcasts several shows specific to the Kansas City region, including Central Standard12th Street Jump, and Cyprus Avenue.

Maybe KCUR keeps you company on your commutes, like so many donors. If you’re a listener, you definitely trust their commitment to reporting on the local stories that matter in your community.

You might be wondering, how can you support KCUR? That’s where Car Donation Wizard comes in. Maybe you have a 1978 Land Rover to donate, or maybe you just have an older junk car that’s gathering dust in the driveway. Either way, we can help.

When you donate a car to KCUR through Car Donation Wizard, you can be sure that they will receive between 75-80% of the gross proceeds of your donation. That means 80 cents of every dollar goes straight to your favorite programs.

To get started, simply visit our website or give us a call at (877) 215-0227 and we can get your car picked up in no time.

It’s time for your car to embark on a new and unexpected adventure — supporting your favorite public radio station!

International Volunteer Day

December 5th is the global observation of International Volunteer Day.

According to the UN, who mandated this day, it is “a unique chance for volunteers and organizations to celebrate their efforts, to share their values, and to promote their work”.

The United Nations coordinates a volunteers program that mobilizes thousands of volunteers worldwide. Even if you aren’t physically able to volunteer with the United Nations, they also have an online volunteering service!

In our office, we are currently in the midst of a Stockings for Soldiers drive, where we are coming together to support our troops overseas. We are bringing in candies, stockings, and non-perishable food to send to soldiers from our area in New England. It can mean a lot to have access to special treats from home that aren’t available anywhere else, like Coffeemilk syrup or Boston baked beans.

We also help support the US Fund for UNICEF through vehicle donations every day.

UNICEF is the United Nation’s Children’s Fund, a nonprofit that supports children worldwide.  This organization is committed to protecting the most vulnerable children around the globe.

They are active in over 190 countries and territories to protect children who are often unable to protect themselves. They focus on critical, lifesaving initiatives including vaccination and distribution of medicine, emergency relief, providing soap and clean water, and fighting child trafficking.

UNICEF has helped eliminate polio completely in 122 countries since 1988. It is difficult to quantify the reduction in human suffering through their valiant efforts. It is easy to quantify their excellent use of funds, though: 88.4% of every dollar donated goes directly to aid the children who need it.

We make it easy, all you need to do is visit our website or call at 1-855-487-3863. A U.S. Fund for UNICEF car donation can change a child’s life.

Charitable Giving Fraud Alert

Good Intentioned Donors Duped by Bad Car Donation Programs

DID YOU KNOW? About 35% of Charity Car Donations typically happen between October 15 and December 31 to take advantage of the end of year tax deductions.

FACT: Some of the most brazen charity donation schemes and frauds are perpetrated on Car Donors and Charities.

FACT: MOST Charitable Car donation programs have an astonishing lack of transparency.

  • Car Donors are often unclear about who they are donating to, how the cars are handled and where the money goes.
  • Charities see only a small fraction of the money raised.

At Car Donation Wizard, we want to set the record straight. We work with respected charities, and we give the highest returns of ANY car donation program out there. You’re too smart to donate your car to just anyone, and we want to help you make an informed decision.

We believe in transparency, just like we believe in the charities we work with. We’ve got the numbers to prove it, too. Through car donations, we’ve helped raise over $150,000,000 for your favorite charities!

More Facts and Examples of Car Donation Schemes and Failures

  1. Illegitimate charities abandon donor vehicles on US roadways and donors are liable even after the donation appears to be complete
  2. Many programs offer ‘net returns to charity,’ only pennies of the gross dollar raised. Car Donation Wizard is different, and we work hard to keep costs low so your donation stays high.
  3. The internet search term ‘Car Donation’ is one of the most expensive search terms throughout the internet. Illegitimate programs drive the clicks up to terrific heights this time of year. Some programs spend more money on advertising than on doing good.
  4. Some of the largest car donation programs in the Country are actually religious charities but don’t announce that clearly on their site or literature.  Their status as religious charities reduces oversight.
  5. In the last 5 years, several of these car donation programs have been investigated by state attorney generals for but continue their dubious operations today.
  6. Many well-known car donation services have serious issues of private benefit or private inurement but there is little enforcement to address these illegal activities.
  7. Car Donation is a great source of long-term revenue for charity but the entire industry is racked by the worst versions of deceit for personal gain.

  • Make sure the charity is an organization that you know and trust. We only work with registered 501(c)(3) nonprofits, which means no matter which respectable organization you choose, you will get a tax receipt. If you aren’t sure, check out Charity Navigator, a great source for
  • Ask how much the charity will receive. The charity has a responsibility to best manage your vehicle donation. Ask how much of the GROSS proceeds will go back to the charity after you donate a car to them. If the program won’t promise over 70% of the Gross, look elsewhere.
  • Once you’ve decided to donate a car to charity, sign the title directly over to the charity or their agent. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, LEAVE THE ‘BUYER’ SECTION OF THE TITLE BLANK. Or you could end up in a situation like this SCAM.
  • Ask how and where the money will be spent. We at Car Donation Wizard can easily answer this. BEWARE of charity car donation programs that promise to send proceeds to another organization

We want to prevent further donation dollar defrauding. It’s always a great time to inform potential donors about the best and most responsible programs.  Advanced Remarketing Services is an expert in Car Donation.
