Today’s car donation spotlight features a 1998 Range Rover HSE that was donated to Special Olympics. After many years of volunteering with this organization, this family highlighted today decided to donate a car to Special Olympics, an organization very close to the family’ s heart.
Making a Difference
The donor shares the story of why they decided to donate to this organization:
I have a special place in my heart for the Special Olympics.I worked as a volunteer during the early stages of the program. I was an administrator with the Los Angeles Unified School District
and we participated at the time as an early implementer. It was the first time our students got to compete in athletic events at their
School. I remember the look on their faces as they competed with as much vigor as the rest of the students.
I also worked as a volunteer at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics at the Tennis and Gymnastics venues. Hopefully, I will be able to also participate
in 2028.I have the privilege to be a board member of the Broadway Gymnastics Foundation which was founded by Peter Vidmer. Peter was a gold medalist
in the 84 games. We have written and received grants from organizations like LA 84. LA 84 is a foundation dedicated to the under-served young people in Los Angeles. Our most recent grant was from LA 84 in which we ran a class for Autistic girls. The funds available from the 84 games have been used in a wonderful manner and we were appreciative that we had the opportunity to provide the service.Thank you for giving these athletes the opportunity to compete at the highest level.
