Earth Day 2020Earth Day

April 22, 2020 will mark 50 years of Earth Day. The United Nations officially celebrates it on the vernal equinox, which is usually on April 21st. Did you know?

A highlight of the United Nations’ Earth Day celebration in New York City is the ringing of the Peace Bell, a gift from Japan, at the exact moment of the vernal equinox.

ARS’ Eco-Efforts

At Advanced Remarketing Services (ARS), we help individuals donate cars to charity. We see every car donation as an opportunity to give back via cars for charity. ARS has streamlined a process for donating a car that is simple for donors, tax deductible, and is leading the industry with 80% of proceeds going to charity. In addition to ARS’ charitable highlights, there are large eco-benefits to what we do. When 40,000 vehicles are recycled, 531,722 tons of CO2 are saved. Saving 531,722 tons of CO2 equates to:

  • 65,725 Home Emissions from Electricity Used for 1 Year
  • 93,901 Passenger Vehicles Driven for 1 Year
  • 516,511 Acres Requested by U.S Forests in 1 Year
  • 11, 364, 703 Tree Seedlings Grown for 10 Years

1973 PORSCHE 914Car

Occasionally we receive eco-friendly donations. Recently, a Yellow, 2-door, 1973 PORSCHE 914 was donated through our Car Talk (PublicRadio WSHU) vehicle donation program. Stand alone, the specs of the 1973 Porsche 914 are impressive. The Porsche 914 weighs 2094 pounds and is one of the first vehicles to use the fuel-injected variant of Volkswagen’s air-cooled Type 4 engine, which is dropped in behind the two seats. During the 1970’s, independent suspension was a novelty and the 914 sports it! Four-wheel disc brakes are also present, which means a firmer pedal pressure is required. The speeds are somewhat limited in comparison to others – acceleration from 0 to 62 mph can be achieved in 10.5 seconds with the top speed of 118 MPH. What made this vehicle donation eco-friendly? – The Porsche’s ability to run off of vegetable oil at 60 MPG! On behalf of partners, we want to thank them for their efforts, generosity, and time.
