This month’s car donation features a 2012 Subaru Legacy Premium 4D Sedan donated to North Shore Animal League America. For over a decade, this Subaru took its owners and beloved pets everywhere through all kinds of weather. Now, it’s helping animals find safe, loving homes.
I purchased my dark navy-blue 2012 Subaru Legacy after the death of my venerable old cat Simon and, a short while later, my cat Sibyl’s complicated tooth extraction at an East Islip veterinary hospital. The old car, with Sibyl in her carrier, conked out coming home on the Belt Parkway: a fraught journey. I said goodbye to that car without regret.
Not so the Subaru, the car that I’ve donated to North Shore Animal League. I hate to let it go.
For thirteen years it took us everywhere, north and south, leaf-peeping and through snows, including other vet visits with other beloved cats and Long Island jaunts with a dear friend, now deceased, and her dog. No matter the weather or roads, the mantra “Well, it’s a Subaru” held true.
Still, for a number of reasons, half a year ago I bought a new Subaru. I couldn’t bear to trade in my old one, and golly, it’s taken me this long to realize that despite its energy and pure elan, and a lot of life left in it, I just don’t need two cars. Where better to donate it than North Shore?
The proceeds from this vehicle donation will allow the Animal League to rescue, nurture, adopt, and educate so that no animal goes unloved or uncared for.
