This week’s car donation is a 1999 Ford Taurus that was donated to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles through the Cars for Homes Program. Your car donation will help build homes in your community and foster stability in the lives of new homeowners.
Several years ago, this donor and her husband moved their family to the United States from England. Upon their arrival, they began looking for cars so they could begin their new lives. After visiting several dealerships, they finally settled on a car. They named her “GB” in honor of their home they left behind. GB allowed the family to explore their new home in the U.S., taking them to mountains, beaches, and even the desert. Some of the family’s favorite memories in GB were during picnics and camping trips. The two young daughters would sit in the back seat they called “the picnic seat” during these trips. After many years, the girls were “heartbroken when they grew too tall for the picnic seat”. The family then knew it was time to give GB a new purpose: building homes.
We have so many memories involving our dear GB, including the girls learning to drive. But now it is time to let GB go, maybe she can still give a young family their own memories. We hope so. Thanks for taking us on adventures and holding us safe all those years, GB. We love you and will miss you!
