The donor graciously shared his reasoning behind donating to the American Cancer Society:
Today I specified to donate my 2006 Land Rover to the American Cancer Society. I really love this car, but it sits and is not driven that often. It’s been through a lot in its 20 years.
I chose the American Cancer Society because of the impact I have seen cancer have on people in my life, including myself. On the positive side my father was diagnosed with esophageal cancer back in 2013. After a long hard battle, he was cancer free several years later, and lived out the rest of his life with no other cancers. Great treatments and excellent doctors helped him get through
Then in 2023, I was diagnosed with very rare liposarcoma. So rare doctors could only reference about 300 other known cases. Excellent doctors and state of the art treatments helped me get through; now it’s regular follow ups.
Those are the stories we like to hear, but cancer has also had negative affects on a personal note. Just this past year, I’ve lost two people…my brother in law, and my childhood friend, both to sarcomas. They were too young to leave this world.
My hope is that my donation can help make any type of impact on the battle against cancer, improve the lives of those living with cancer, and also toward research that will lead to cures and improved treatments.
