This car has been a part of my life since her purchase in 2005. I'm only 23, so for 20 of those years, this car has taken me wherever I needed to go. From drop off to pickup in elementary and middle school, from sitting on the cul-de-sac watching as people came to look at an open house when we were selling my childhood home. She was my first car when I finally got my license, and my home when I was kicked out of my house in high school. She traveled with me across multiple states, gave me a place to sleep at night when I had no where else to go. She took care of me in college as I worked to achieve my degree. My Kia Rio is so much more than a car, she is a home. Now, I have no choice but to let her be free, and I'm grateful for organizations like Habitat for Humanity who are working to turn special vehicles like my Kia into homes and resources for those who need them.
