“Owning my 1990 Buick Reatta convertible was a literal dream come true.”
Owning my 1990 Buick Reatta convertible was a literal dream come true. Back in 1988, I saw a new Reatta at the DC Auto Show – it left quite an impression, but it was the only one I ever saw new. The memory stayed with me, though, and I found out later that the hardtop halo car coupe was only made for model years 1988 – 1991. Fast forward to many years later, and I was looking for a fun convertible: while looking online, I discovered the Reatta also came as an (even less common) convertible in 1990 and 1991. I had found the right car, and then I found the right one for me – it even had two touches I had thought about, a (aftermarket) tan top and the wheels from the 1991 model year! I flew my mom and myself to Detroit to complete the sale, and we had a wonderful road trip back home, visiting new cities and towns, and enjoying the comfort of a grand tourer that’s comfortable even for tall drivers. Its compact external dimensions (a shortened version of GM’s E platform) meant I could drive it pretty much anywhere, and I sure have. Now, it’s time for someone else to enjoy it, and I hope they have as much fun with it as I did!
Thank You!

This was my first ever car that I got while in college. I planned to buy a cheap, used car with my savings but my mom surprised me by chipping in a bunch to help me get a new car. I named her Eustace and she carried me the 6+ hours to and from college for every vacation. She witnessed first love, graduation, and moved to the big city with me. She was tough, facing blazing summers, snow plows burying her for days, and alternate side parking. She drove my fiancee and I to our first house and then our wedding. She came and went to the NICU dozens of times until our beautiful baby was ready to come home months later. I was so nervous driving with our baby in the back seat for the first time, but Eustace was as steady and reliable as ever. She’s retired from our family now, but can hopefully still do some good for others.
