National Endangered Species Day

National Endangered Species Day is annually celebrated on the third Friday in May. The day is dedicated to educating others and taking action to protect threatened and endangered species and their habitats. Many organizations such as wildlife refuges, zoos, aquariums, schools, libraries, and museums hold special events for children and adults.

The Endangered Species Act was signed into law on December 28, 1973 to protect and recover plants and animals that are at risk of becoming extinct. The term “endangered” refers to a species that is in danger of extinction throughout all or a significant portion of its range. Whereas, the term “threatened” refers to a species that is likely to become endangered within the foreseeable future.

Car Donation Wizard proudly partners with charities that benefit animals in need. In honor of National Endangered Species Day, we’re spotlighting the Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, an organization that treats injured wildlife in Colorado.
