Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best charity to donate a vehicle?
WABE provides the Metro Atlanta Area community with content through the form of radio shows, podcasts, and television programs. The proceeds from your car donation will be reinvested in WABE and the Atlanta community in the form of fact-checked journalism and programs.
Why should I donate my car to WABE?
There are many car donation programs on the internet making heartfelt appeals for vehicles, but only a small number of these programs actually make a difference to the charity. WABE offers complete transparency on where your car donation is going, who it’s helping, and how it’s going to get there.
What types of vehicles does WABE accept?
We gratefully accept almost all car donations. We also accept donated trucks, motorcycles, boats, snowmobiles, trailers and recreational vehicles. Boats and planes may require a call to see if they meet minimum criteria. You can donate your car online or by calling us at 1-877-215-0227.
How much of the money from the sale of my vehicle is returned to WABE?
Donating a car or other vehicle to charity can be a confusing decision. Many charity car donation programs promise to help the charities but are run by third-party processors that return very little to the charity. Our partners at Car Donation Wizard return 75-80% of the gross selling price for car donations back to WABE, the highest of any vehicle donation program! View our car donation tips for more info on how to maximize your charitable vehicle donation.
What documentation will be provided for my tax return?
Within 30 days of the sale of your vehicle, you will receive an email with a receipt that includes: The gross selling price of your car, if sold for greater than $500. If your car sells for $500 or less, you can deduct $500 or your car’s fair market value, whichever is less. Vehicle year, make, model, and VIN. A statement that the vehicle was sold at arms-length between two unrelated parties. A statement that no good or services were received in return for your donation.
