Classy 1983 De Ville donated to Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society, Inc.

A 1983 Cadillac De Ville was donated to the Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society, Inc. and will be sold at auction later this month. This vehicle is a wonderful reminder of the class and luxury of its era.

The first Cadillac De Ville was introduced in 1949 at the Autorama, a custom car show series. “De Ville” meaning “of the town” in French denotes an air of elegance that this vehicle emanates. The 1949 model was innovative for the time. It included chrome trim around the wheel openings and a dummy scoop. The inside was trimmed in chrome, there was a phone in the glove compartment, and it had power windows. A real head turner!

The 1983 model donated through Car Donation Wizard  is a part of a celebratory line designed for Cadillac’s 75th anniversary. These vehicles, both the coupe and sedan, went through significant changes making them a lot smaller than the previous models. The new De Ville’s were nine inches shorter, four inches narrower, and a half ton lighter than the previous models. They were practically designed because they still offered a larger trunk, more headroom, and more legroom than the models before.
