The funds from the sale of your car donation to WEKU will help cover the costs of producing local programs that you love. WEKU proudly partners with the Car Talk Vehicle Donation Program to accept your car, truck, motorcycle, boat, or RV donation. When you donate a car to WEKU, you’ll receive a tax deduction while supporting your favorite Kentucky NPR News source. Get started on your WEKU vehicle donation today!

WEKU broadcasts on nine FM stations in Central and Eastern Kentucky reaching more than 1.5 million residents. WEKU’s vision is to enhance listeners’ understanding of issues that impact the people of Kentucky, the nation and the world as the most trusted and reliable source of in-depth, fact-based journalism and arts, cultural and entertainment programming. Frequently Asked Questions

What types of vehicles can be donated to WEKU?

We gratefully accept almost all car donations. We also accept donated trucks, motorcycles, boats, snowmobiles, trailers, and RVs on a case-by-case basis. If you have a question about a vehicle you’d like to donate, give us a call at 877-215-0227.

What documents do I need to complete my car donation?

Most car donations require a clear title. If you don’t have a clear title, you’ll have to apply for a duplicate Kentucky title. Instructions on how to sign your Kentucky title over to our processing agent, Advanced Remarketing Services, will be emailed to you after you submit the donation form. You can also view our Kentucky title transfer instructions online or call our processing center at 877-215-0227.

How much of the money from the sale of my vehicle is returned to WEKU?

Donating a car or other vehicle to charity can be a confusing decision. Many charity car donation programs promise to help the charities but are run by third-party processors that return very little to the charity. Our partners at Advanced Remarketing Services return at least 70% of the gross proceeds from the sale of car donations back to WEKU, the highest of any vehicle donation program! View our car donation tips for more info on how to maximize your charitable vehicle donation.

Will I receive a tax receipt?

Within 30 days of the sale of your vehicle, you’ll be emailed a tax receipt. The amount that is tax-deductible is equal to the sale price of your vehicle. If your car sold for less than $500, you can claim the fair market value of the vehicle up to $499. If your vehicle sells for more than $500 and you want to claim the full amount when itemizing taxes, an IRS Form 1098-C, Contributions of Motor Vehicles, Boats, and Airplanes will be mailed to you. This form will be your tax receipt for your vehicle donation.
