Powerful, heartwarming and overwhelming at times, last Friday our Relay for Life Team, Cars for a Cure, took part in the Barrington High School Relay for Life event in Rhode Island. Bad weather, with the possibility of thunder storms, couldn’t dampen our spirits as we set up our colorful campsite.
The atmosphere was palpable. Everyone was there for the same reason: to fight back, one step at a time, against cancer. The event had over 500 people; those affected by cancer, caregivers and survivors. With our fluorescent colored t-shirts and our team name “carsforacure” on our back, we proudly walked to create a world with more birthdays in it.
After the sun set, it was time for the Luminaria Ceremony. Everyone was handed a glow stick and we were told not to crack it until the right time came. We stood on the track and listened to the daughter of the former Principal at Barrington High School speak about the loss of her Dad. Her courage speaking out to so many people about her father’s passing was heartwarming.
When she was finished we were asked to be silent and to listen. We were asked to crack our glow sticks if we were a cancer survivor; a few people cracked their glow sticks. We were asked if we were there for our mom, our dad, our grandparents, and our friends. Each time we heard more and more glow sticks cracking. The track was alight with glow sticks, and it was overwhelming to hear and see how much cancer affects all of us.
Relay for Life is a time for people to come together and raise awareness and money to fight against cancer. It was tough and at times we wanted to give up but we kept going. Our team walked all night long, from 6pm to 6am, and we left inspired albeit a little tired!
For the past few months we have been raising awareness and money for our Cars for a Cure Team and last Friday was the culmination of all our hard work coming together. We raised over $2800 for Relay for Life and we had fun doing it. Check out our raffle blog post here.
“When you start a business, it’s hard to know what kind of company you will become, but years later looking around the tent and seeing all of you give up a Friday night in the summer to serve a greater good makes me feel like we are on the right path with our business and our people.” Joseph D. Hearn , President & CEO of Advanced Remarketing Services, Inc.
Advanced Remarketing Services, Inc. acts as agent for the American Cancer Society and runs their Cars for a Cure vehicle donation program. If you are looking for a way to give back to the American Cancer Society think about donating your car today.
The 300TD was the first Mercedes Turbo Diesel in production, and the only vehicle available with automatic transmission at the time. Immediately after its release in 1976, the Mercedes-Benz 300TD was in high demand and subsequently a black market was created in Germany. Those who wanted to buy a brand new 300TD faced a 12 month waiting list. The black market was able to provide slightly used Mercedes to those who did not want to wait, albeit at a premium.
The 1982 300TD is part of the W123 series. This line of vehicles were the most successful that Mercedes manufactured and 2.7 million were sold before they were replaced by the W124 in 1985.
The American Cancer Society fights back against cancer through awareness, research and its devotion to cancer patients and those affected by cancer. Raising a dollar is more difficult than making a dollar, that’s why car donation is an important source of revenue for our charity partners. Events like Relay For Life and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer raise vital money and awareness for cancer research, and donating your car can do the same. With over 80% of the gross proceeds going back to our charities, we are the number one car donation program in the country.

Lately Car Donation Wizard has been receiving a lot of phone calls from nonprofit organizations who want to learn about the vehicle donation process and how they can get involved. So we decided to let all nonprofits know just how easy it is to set up a Vehicle Donation Program with Car Donation Wizard.
Vehicle donation is one of the easiest ways for charities to help fund their nonprofit missions or to help with program expenses.
Car Donation Wizard is partnered with national charity programs like the American Cancer Society, Habitat for Humanity International, U.S. Fund for UNICEF and March of Dimes just to name a few. Car Donation Wizard gives back over 80% of the gross proceeds to our charity partners.
For small to medium sized organizations we recommend that they sign up for a vehicle donation program with V-DAC. V-DAC is a Fundraising Counsel, registered with the State of California, Office of the Attorney General and is not a Commercial Fund Raiser. It provides a service that allows any charity, church or school in the country to have a vehicle donation program. We have partnered with V-DAC to make the benefits of vehicle donation available to all sized nonprofits.
Setting up a vehicle donation program is easy. You can contact a representative from Car Donation Wizard or from V-DAC and we will walk you through signing your charity up. There are no contracts and we set up your donation page for you.
It is that simple.
Vehicle donation has no upfront costs and we get paid per car, so if you do not get any car donations we don’t get paid.
