Recently there was a 1952 MG TD donated to PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. The unique thing about this classic car is that it is actually a fully restored MG kit car. So while the car looks just like the model that was originally manufactured in 1949, it has actually been updated with modern amenities. What’s better than that? You can ride in this smooth driving throwback in comfortable leather seats surrounded by a fiberglass rebuild.
In speaking with the donor he stated that he chose PETA because he is a longtime supporter of animal rights. We certainly appreciate his support of a great cause. Since the vehicle is in great condition it is going to be able to raise a lot of money for the charity. The donor stated to us that while he enjoyed it immensely it is time for someone else to have it.
“It is perfect and I want it to go to someone who can devote time to it and enjoy while at the same time giving to a worthwhile cause.” -Donor of 1952 MG TD
The 1952 MG TD has the same engine, a 1250cc XPAG unit, as the previous models. To the untrained eye there are not many noticeable changes from the TC model. One change that ruffled the feathers of MG enthusiasts was they used 15-inch pressed steel wheels in replace of the 19-inch wire wheels. The size of the frame was also increased by 5-inches. That and a change in the rear suspension allowed for a smoother ride. Overall, there was about 30,000 units of this classic roadster produced over the years.
PETA is the largest animal rights organization in the world. PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: in the food industry, in the clothing trade, in laboratories, and in the entertainment industry.
