Jasmine’s 2007 Toyota Prius

KCLU Car Donation Review

“While it’s sad to see the Prius off, this feels like a fitting ending to its story.”

I wanted to share that we just donated our 2007 Prius to NPR after someone stole our catalytic converter and it was too expensive to replace. The Prius was our family car for 15 years and I have fond memories of visiting the musical road, finding weird, “iconic” statues like Paul Bunion or the biggest cowboy hat, and swimming in blankets for drive-in movies with the back hatch open. Yearly ski trips, and in particular the day we drove from the beach to the mountains on the same day stand out.

My family used to listen to and enjoy Guy Noir and Car Talk on the way to and from church on Sundays. My brother and I teased Dad about the silly stories and eclectic music and while it’s sad to see the Prius off, this feels like a fitting ending to its story.

Thanks for the memories!

Thank You, Jasmine!

This was my grandmothers car from 1996. Drove like a dream, only 16,000 miles when I got it. Super dependable car. My youngest was learning how to drive in it and it was going to be her car. Sad to say goodbye to a great car that lasted longer than any new cars made …
