How do I release the liability of my donated vehicle in District of Columbia (DC)?
- The District of Columbia DOES require a Certificate of Title in order to transfer ownership of your vehicle.
- In order to complete your Washington DC car donation, transfer your title by entering the name of our authorized agent, ADVANCED REMARKETING SERVICES in the buyer/purchaser field. Please PRINT and SIGN your name in the seller/owner field EXACTLY as it appears at the top of the title.
- Please remove your license plates from your vehicle and surrender them to the DC DMV or transfer to another vehicle.
- You must cancel your vehicle registration or surrender tags before canceling your car insurance. You can follow this link for more information: https://dmv.dc.gov/service/tag-surrender
- Remember to remove your electronic toll collection system from your vehicle as well as removing the vehicle from the account when the vehicle is picked up.
