How do I release the liability of my donated vehicle in Rhode Island (RI)?
- The state of Rhode Island DOES NOT require a Certificate of Title in order to transfer ownership of vehicles 2000 and older. In this case the most recent registration and a Bill of Sale to Advanced Remarketing Services is sufficient.
- In order to complete your Rhode Island car donation, transfer your title by entering the name of our authorized agent, ADVANCED REMARKETING SERVICES in the buyer/purchaser field. Please PRINT and SIGN your name in the seller/owner field EXACTLY as it appears at the top of the title.
- The state of Rhode Island recommends keeping copies of all sale documents.
- Please remove and keep your license plates. You must complete a plate cancellation at the DMV or online. Please see the following link to complete the plate cancellation online: https://dmv.ri.gov/online-services
- Remember to remove your electronic toll collection system from your vehicle as well as removing the vehicle from the account when the vehicle is picked up.
